Midlands Region

General Information

The Midlands region was launched in 2018 and has over 50 members, covering the West Midlands and East Midlands (Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Telford, Warwick, Derby, Leicester & Nottingham).

Due to the infancy of the region, we continue to reach out to companies, members and perspective non-members across the region. There is a growing body of project controls, commercial and related professionals in the Midlands, working on numerous major projects across diverse industries (Rail e.g. HS2, Highways, Nuclear, Power and Manufacturing). In addition, we have a strong heritage in manufacturing and engineering with professionals who can benefit from ACostE and the opportunities it provides to grow companies and employees alike. We are aiming to run 4 or 5 events per year covering a breadth of subjects, including (but not limited to):

•    Project/ Industry case studies e.g. Network Rail, HS2, Highways England, EDF, Ansaldo Nuclear
•    NEC 3, NEC 4 - overview of the Contract form and what’s changed
•    Technical briefs on Cost Engineering, Project Planning, Risk & Opportunity Management, Change Control, Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, BIM/ “Big Data”, Earned Value, Risk Monte Carlo simulation and many others
•    Certification and apprenticeship schemes available via ACostE and other routes
•    Earned Value - process and issues
•    Risk - an overview of Monte Carlo Simulation
•    Project Teams - understanding the team dynamics, how this helps the practitioner, what does the PM expect
